Five Ways to Have Better Instagram Pictures

Image from www.tweaktown.com
Instagram has reached a huge milestone, and you backed it up, right? You are among the 300 million plus active users that uploads photos daily.

Instagram was the first easy-to-use photo sharing app. Every photo lover, even the amateur ones, can use it to take and share pictures. It has photo filters and editing tools to produce good output. Yet, it is rare to find well-crafted, expressive, and soul-full images.

Do you want to share better pictures? Dogs, cats, and foods you shoot at will have more sophistication if you know how to take picture like a pro.

Be a photo geek and improve your images with these five photography tips:

  1. The blue and golden hour counts. Photo enthusiasts use natural lighting to create a dramatic effect. One trick is to shoot during the day’s first or last hour. As the sun sets, it creates warm golden glow and gentle shadows. This creates a deep impact everyone love to see. Moreover, smartphones often fail to work well with the harsh midday sun and strong backlight. These lightings will just spoil your pictures.

  1. Focus on composition. Instagram’s square photos have become the standard of mobile photography. Your subject is right in the center. But you have to use this with caution since photos in square format may not be appealing. It is effective when you keep it proportion. In addition, your subject must be strong enough to grab viewer’s attention. You may also apply the rule of thirds to have a dynamic image.

  1. Keep them simple and creative. Even Steve Jobs said that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. So move away from crowded and messy photos. For sure, it will strain viewers' eyes.  Yet, keep your creative flair. Expand your horizons and enhance the presentation. If you are going to take a picture of a food, try to mix up other things. Include some colorful flowers or fruits on the side, but do not overdo it.

  1. Capture a great scene. The art of photography lies in waiting and capturing happy moments. Thus, spent time to plan what you are going to shoot. Scout good locations such as parks, fields, and bays. Find interesting subjects with nice background or foreground elements. Then, be observant on things that give good concepts for your photo shoot.

  1. Break old habits.  Have better perspective and close-range shots. You often shoot at standing eye-level, right? Instead, try to shoot at different angles. Various viewpoints produce unalike moods or messages. Aside from this, a closer shot creates depth. Your smartphone can shoot 3 to 6 inches close to your subject. The nearest thing is in focus while blurring the background. This creates a good effect on your photos.

Top Tips to Take Pictures like A Pro

Who else doesn’t have a camera? If you don’t have a portable cam or a DSLR, you have a smartphone or tablet, right?

With this stuff, you don’t care if you starve to death or stumble upon as long as you capture scenes. You take shots of unique areas you cross by, or of foods you are about to eat.

You take selfie or group shots. You post it on Facebook, tweet it, and brag it. But, did you know that you can simply take pictures just like a pro?

Yes, even amateur smartphone owners can create pictures that blow away the viewers. All you have to do is keep these tips and try it out.

1.   Keep it clear and sharp. Avoid shooting in a hot or humid set up. Also, prevent flare-ups by taking a shot that won’t go against the light. These can make the photo filthy, hazy, or dim. You won’t be able give out a clear and fresh view. Did you find some of your smartphones shots blurred? This often happens with low light setting. Use a tripod or a monopod to stabilize the shutter.

 2. Consider the lighting. If you want to shoot outdoors, consider the weather condition and the time. Shoot in early morning or late day. This will give dramatic or intense effect on your photo. Go with the natural light because it has more quality and create depths.

3.   Mind your backgrounds. Striking photos have great backgrounds. These could be a landscape, glowing city, beaches, buildings, or beautiful houses. In doing this, you have to know where to put things in place. Let’s take, for instance, a photo at the beach. You have to look into various components: the sky, the sand, the water, and the person. Make sure that you see these things in your frame. You may shoot the person at a close range, then zoom out to capture the beach as a background. You may take the shot sideways, a bit lower to get more of sand’s view, or a bit high to capture the blue sky.

 4.  Watch out for unwanted elements. Be careful when there are trees or bushes at the back. They usually appear as growing out of your or your subjects’ head.  With DSLR’s, you can actually shoot by simply focusing on the subjects and blurring the backgrounds. In smartphones, this is hard to achieve. So you just have to change venue or find the right angle.

Not all of us can make a difference from the ordinary one.  But there are ways to take pictures just as an expert does.  Just follow these tips and see the difference.

Five Tricks to Create Creepy Photos for Halloween

Here comes Halloween! How do you take part in this fun-filled and scary holiday? You may choose to set up a party and request guests to wear costumes. You may decorate the place with mummies and scary creatures, too.

But for expert photographers, they participate by uploading scary photos on their Web sites. This is real fun. It will really amaze you to see pictures with ghosts and other creepy features. And how do they add a “chill” factor on their Halloween pictures?

If you are a newbie photographer, here are ways to make eerie photos that will scare your viewers:

Get a good role player. Your picture is blunt if it does not have a good actor on it. Get a good model who knows how to act. Find someone who can express fear intensely.

Work with the right lighting. A low-light scene adds a creepy feature to your picture. Dusk time is ideal if you want to have natural spooky lighting. Likewise, it is best to shoot without a flash. If it’s nighttime, use a medium-lighted spotlight to focus the area you wish to capture. But don’t limit your options to these things. You may also use glow sticks, candles, or an open fire. If you have a subject, you may put a light under the face or below the chin to create a terrifying image.

Pick a good framing. You have to pin down the right framing or angle to shoot. If you want to shoot the subject with the ceiling full of webs and spiders, get low to the ground and angle up the camera. This can improve the image as this give a perspective that viewers are inside the photo. Doing this makes them feel the creepy impact that your photo brings.

Try exposure tricks. How will you capture the setting with a spooky object? You may use multiple exposure that overlays a shot with another. Your DSLR camera has this feature. This allows you to create a ghostly image. To do this, set up your camera in a tripod and use shutter-priority mode. Place the exposure to 10–30 seconds. Ask a friend to stand still in the shot for a few seconds. Then point the camera elsewhere. The image looks like a haunting spirit.

Add more depth. Make sure that you focus more on the dramatic sides of the scene. Get the strong lines and shapes, shadows, and deep contrast of the sight. Shadows play great roles in creating scary photos. Enhance the blacks and the reds. You may also use black and white and sepia tones to add intense and scare to viewers.
